The Shepreth Wildlife Park near Royston, England, is a family-run zoo dedicated to the care and protection of a variety of animal species. Originally founded in 1979 as a private refuge for injured and orphaned animals, it has grown into a significant attraction in East Anglia. Today, the park is home to over 100 different species, including tigers, otters, monkeys, and reptiles.

With indoor play areas, warm tropical exhibits, and freely roaming animals, there is something for everyone, regardless of the weather.

The Shepreth Wildlife Park is not just a place of recreation, but also an educational center dedicated to raising awareness about conservation and animal care. Through its commitment to animals and the environment, the park provides an enriching experience for visitors of all ages.

Amazing park. Animals seem to be happy and properly cared for with sufficient space for their needs. The bunnies are free roam and very friendly. The nocturnal area is the absolute best. It's a long dark open room where fruit bats are flying around you. There is some light from small windows so you can see them a bit when they fly by and hang on the fruit. Absolutely spectacular area and highlight of my visit. If you are scared there is a screened off viewing section too. But I fully recommend being in the room with them, it's a wonderful experience as we don't get opportunities to be in close quarters to bats in the UK. 🖤🖤 There are regular timed talks with some animals so you get to see them active and fairly close. The birds of prey are absolutely stunning to see too, along with the cute marmozets. Would absolutely recommend - I think we'll be back too (2 adults)!

Pleasantly surprised by this zoo as it was close to us but never previously visited. Many animals to view all look in good care. There is a place to eat and go to the toilet and the crowning achievement being the soft play area for kids. Food does take a while to come though if you need a bite. But lots to see and do at a reasonable price so well worth the trip.

A cold winters day, but still plenty of animals to see, most of them quite active. The nocturnal room was a highlight. I don't remember ever being in a room with fruit bat's literally flying around with us! Spectacular, and the littlies loved it! The indoor soft play was modest but with some cool features and even though it was a very quiet day the Cafe was offering hot food to warm littlie's tums. Discount entry made the visit even better value for money.

We have been a few times over the years and our most recent visit was probably our best yet. A lovely quiet winter's morning after Christmas. We had great views of the red panda, enjoyed watching the coatis snuggle inside and then watch them feeding. Being there as the bats were released after the cleaning was scary and exciting at the same time as the bats were very active and getting so close. The otters were noisy and funny to watch and it was great to find out about Huffy the hedgehog who had been rescued. All the staff members we came across were friendly and chatty. Overall a fab outing!

It’s taken me years to finally visit but wow was it worth the wait. The animals are just amazing and all look extremely well cared for. Can imagine it gets hectic when it’s busy but it was perfectly fine the weekend before Christmas. We also booked to see Father Christmas and again what an incredible experience. £10 donation which goes to their hospital and the people who do the grotto experience are out of this world. Worth every penny and more. Will definitely be back.

We came during school holidays and were quite disappointed that several things weren’t working like electric cars, digger ride, trampolines been taken away and the toilets were so smelly that the children didn’t want to use them! Very expensive for such low standards and they still have the nerve to ask for donations to the park! What are the tickets for then ?

Extremely small zoo where you will finish your animal viewing within an hour. Some indoor and outdoor play for kids. But proved quite high for the experience. For the same price better to look out at bigger zoos or bigger farm parks

Shepreth Wildlife Park generously donated a voucher for our local school's summer fete, showcasing their strong support for the community. Their kindness made a real difference to our event, and we're very grateful. The park offers a fantastic experience for families, with a wide variety of animals and engaging activities. Highly recommend Shepreth Wildlife Park for both their wonderful wildlife experiences and their dedication to supporting local causes!

Fantastic day! We went as part of a day services group. The facilities were great and well distributed around the park. The animals looked in good condition, appeared happy and seemed like there pens were keeping them stimulated. As I say, very good day and will definitely be back!

This was the first time we had been, and we have found a little gem on our doorstep. My mother is in a wheelchair, but we found it very easy to get around, one small problem, some of the walls difficult to see over from a wheelchair, but don't let that put you off, there's plenty to see, and they are there for our safety, and you are up close and personal with the animal's. All in all, it was a fun day out, and it was worth a visit.
